Jim first studied mathematics at Tuam CBS, then NUI Galway, and he completed his PhD at the University of Alberta, Canada. He has worked as a university lecturer since 1998 and is a former president of the Irish Mathematical Society. 

Jim is very active in promoting mathematics among second level students, co-founding the PRISM contest for Irish maths students, and coaching Irish students to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad. 

He also has a keen interest in using technology to improve teaching and learning, and has been involved in several innovative e-learning projects as part of his work at university level.

Jim is responsible for the mathematical content of TheMathsTutor.ie, and for ensuring best teaching practice.

Eamonn got his first taste for maths and computers at Carndonagh Community School, and went on to study Physics, Maths and Computers in NUI Galway and Queen's University Belfast.

He put his maths skills to practical use as a data analyst in the market research industry, before moving into software development, working for clients in Ireland, Belgium, the UK and the USA.

Eamonn spent the last 3 years providing a very popular private maths tuition service, which led to collaboration with Jim in creating the online learning system for secondary maths students.

Eamonn is responsible for technology and customer service for TheMathsTutor.ie.
